| Alcide Barberis is the scientific founder of Oncalis’ mother company ESBATech, where he has been CSO since its inception in 1998. While working at ESBATech, he created the basis for the development and patenting of Oncalis’ core projects and the subsequent founding of the Company. He studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Zurich, where he received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Molecular Biology. He subsequently worked at Harvard University, first as postdoctoral fellow and subsequently as research associate in Mark Ptashne laboratory at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. During this period, he started his studies on yeast as a model cellular system to analyze the fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation. With his research, Dr. Barberis significantly contributed to the understanding of gene regulation. After a stay at the Institute S. Raffaele in Milan, he became lecturer and research group leader at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the University of Zurich, from which ESBATech was spun out. |
